Leading Technology organisation in Hampshire require an experienced Research Engineer within Computer Science to join their expanding team.
This role is to join an Emerging Technology project team to focus on and lead foreground and background research and proof of concept into application of scalable storage systems. There are two large collaborative research projects currently live. This role is to work on architectures and methods for a storage system and integrating it into a large service offering infrastructure. The successful candidate will be expected to look at problems and write papers on problems, possible solutions and ideas, etc.
We are looking for candidates that hold a PhD in Computer Science, either recently graduated or with some industry experience, with an interest in Grid Computing, HPC, Clustered Systems or Storage systems.
This is an infrastructure as opposed to application based role - if candidates are not fully familiar with storage systems then someone who understand virtual machine environments, putting file systems in place, etc could also be of interest.
This role is focused on Storage systems development and documentation across the full lifecycle but the diverse nature of the project will involve the successful candidate with a range of tasks focused on the completion of the projects.
This role is not suitable for software engineers although the applicants must have an appreciation of software engineering.
